3D Integration

Scene III Overview
Scene III makes it easy to seamlessly integrate 2D and 3D animation. There are distinct benefits to be gained by integrating 2D and 3D. For example, some things are quicker, easier and cheaper to do in 3D such as material properties, rotating animation, props and backgrounds which are drawn as 3D and rendered as 2D. Other things are quicker, easier and cheaper to do in 2D, such as character animation. Scene III lets you use both methods to create 2D animation. It enables animators to apply a consistent cartoon look to entire scene that contains both 2D elements created in Animo and 3D models created in Maya or 3D Studio MAX software.

Inkworks Overview
Inkworks provides Maya and 3ds max users with the ability to give their 3D animation a cartoon cel look, in keeping with the flat painted and colored outline style of traditional cartoon animation. Inkworks has the following features:
  • Ability to select base, shade and highlight colors
  • Lights within the 3D scene determine highlight and shade areas
  • Additional control over the extent of the shade and highlight regions
  • Control over the sharpness and smoothness between the highlight and shade areas
  • Independent control of Ink lines and painted regions - hence ink line thickness can be animated and
  • colored independently of the painted areas
  • Control over the generation of ink lines - edge/silhouette lines, region and fold lines
